Yggdrasil Gaming like to explore a number of different realms within their video slots, and Hades Gigablox slot is their latest release – set deep in the chasms of an old cave in Ancient Greece. The game is highly-unique in that it uses Yggdrasil’s “Gigablox” mechanic – something which many have touted as an attempt to rival Big Time Gaming’s Megaways mechanic – and this unique game engine works well for the slot, offering players an exciting and dynamic playing experience.

Hades Gigablox is a 6-reel slot with 6 rows – although, strangely, the game developer has opted not to use a “ways-to-win” mechanic, instead, choosing to include just 50 fixed paylines. You’ll find that you’re able to play Hades Gigablox from as little as 0.10 credits per spin, and the maximum bet is a healthy 100 credits, at old and new bingo sites alike. The game’s default RTP is 96.0%, although, as is usually the case with Yggdrasil slots, operators can choose different RTP settings if they prefer.

To give you an idea of how Hades Gigablox works – and what you can expect when trying out the slot for yourself – we’ve put together this comprehensive, in-depth and impartial Hades Gigablox slot review. We’ll kick things off by taking a look at the slot’s theme, design, and layout.

Hades Gigablox Slot Theme, Design, and Layout

Hades Gigablox is Yggdrasil’s second game to utilise the “Gigablox” mechanic, the first being Lucky Neko – a Japanese-inspired slot. Hades Gigablox is, of course, based around Hades himself, and we think it’s fair to say that the game features some of the best-looking graphics and animations we’ve ever seen from a Yggdrasil slot. The sound effects are completely fitting and on-point, and they really add to the high-quality, HD graphics the creative team has managed to develop.

The user-interface of Hades Gigablox is also really well-made, and you’ll find the main “spin” button right at the bottom of the screen, in the middle. To select the amount of money you’d like to bet, you simply need to scroll through the coin value options available to you, and this will then display the “Cash Bet” – another way of saying the total amount of money that you’re going to be betting.

We should also point out that in order to form wins, you’ll need to land a 3-of-a-kind combo or higher on one of the game’s 50 paylines. There are a total of 8 symbols in all, four of which are lower-paying and the other four of which are higher-paying. The lower-paying symbols are all represented by playing card suits, including Diamonds, Spades, Clubs and Hearts.

The higher-paying symbols in Hades Gigablox are four different demons – and these monster-like symbols pay between 4-8X your stake for matching a 6-of-a-kind combo.

Special Symbols, Bonus Features, and Gameplay

Hades Gigablox has a wild symbol – although it’s only created during the bonus round, details of which we’ll cover in the next part of this Hades Gigablox review. There are also scatter symbols on the reels to look out for, and landing five or more of these anywhere in view will award the main free-spins bonus.

We should also point out how the Gigablox mechanic works, here. Symbols can drop down onto the reels in various-sized blocks; for example, it’s possible for 2X2 and 3X3 symbols to drop down onto the reels – making for interesting gameplay to say the least!

Hades Gigablox Slot Bonus Features

Hades Gigablox is all about the bonus round – and it’s triggered by landing five or more of the scatter symbols anywhere in view. You will then be awarded the same number of free spins as the number of scatter symbols that landed in view – and during the bonus round, a unique reel modifier called the Hades Wild Hunt is active on each spin.

Randomly on any spin, Hades himself may come out and “fight” any of the higher-paying Monster symbols on the reels. Any of the Monster symbols that are defeated then transform into wild symbols, increasing your chances of forming wins.

This can happen in the base-game too – but during the bonus round, it’s a lot more notable, as each time one of the Monsters is transformed into a wild symbol, +1 is added to the multiplier bar on the left-hand-side of the screen. Filling the bar awards you with additional free spins and also increases the win multiplier up to as high as 10X – and this win multiplier is then applied to all wins for the duration of the free spins feature.

It’s also possible to land more scatter symbols during the bonus round, and doing so will award you with one additional free spins for each scatter that lands.

Conclusion

Hades Gigablox is a great effort from Yggdrasil; the game looks incredible, the graphics are superb – and a really exciting bonus round ensures you can win thousands of times your stake on a single spin. We were also impressed to see the game offers a hit frequency of just above 20% – and this means, despite its high volatility, you shouldn’t have to wait too long to begin seeing the hits roll in! If you want to try other new games, Push Gaming’s Wheel of Wonders slot and Warrior Graveyard slot from Nolimit City are worth playing.
