Following the exclusive launch of the Blockbusters online bingo game last month, Mecca Bingo contacted a survey asking their members among others their favourite catchphrase and their favourite game show host.
Maybe it was a coincidence, maybe not, but 23% of the Mecca Bingo customers said that the “Can I have a P please Bob” referring to the Blockbusters game show which was hosted by Bob Holness came on top. Maybe just a touch of nostalgia and the release of the online bingo game based on the TV show gave Blockbusters the upper hand.
“Everyone remembers the tongue in cheek questions from the original Blockbusters so it’s no surprise that our customers have voted Can I have a P please Bob as their favourite” said Angus Nisbet, Director of Gaming at Mecca Bingo.
The Blockbusters online bingo game can be found exclusively at Mecca Bingo and just like the TV show, the bingo game uses letters instead of numbers like the rest of the traditional bingo games. This is almost like speed bingo with new bingo games starting on average every two minutes since each ticket contains only 20 letters. Blockbuster Bingo is a 26 ball variant and has two different prizes for the taking in every game and the aim is to complete a column or a line. A £5,000 community jackpot is also available when the letters B-I-N-G-O come out in the first five letters in any game.
During the survey, another clear winner was Noel Edmonds that received 30% of the votes with Bruce Forsyth coming a distant second at 22%. Noel Edmonds was back in the limelight after deciding to take hosting duties of the very popular Deal or No Deal currently on your TV screens on Channel 4. In 2009, Mecca Bingo launched the Deal or No Deal Bingo room that plays just like the traditional 90 ball bingo but also gives the Full House winner the chance to play the Deal or No Deal featured game.
