The envelope please. It’s award season in the online gaming industry, and the International Gaming Awards (IGA) 2011 have revealed their 2011 finalists for the Online Bingo Operator of the Year Award. The very exclusive five star Jumeirah Carlton Tower in Knightsbridge, London will be the venue to host this annual event on January 24th 2011, that is set to attract the cream of the crop from the online bingo, poker and the casino industry.

One of the most competitive categories this year is the Online Bingo Operator of the Year Award. We now know the six finalists and include Foxy Bingo, Jackpotjoy Bingo, Sun Bingo, Mecca Bingo, Skybet and Wink Bingo. What is so weird, and what I feel is a major oversight, is that the winner of this same category at the eGaming Review Awards, Tombola Bingo, was not even shortlisted. It goes to show that two ceremonies, can have such a different line up. It actually reminds me of the inconsistency between the Oscars and the Golden Globes, but I guess this is precisely what makes the awards so fascinating to follow.

The International Gaming Awards committee, which includes high profile judges such as Calvin Ayre and Andrew M. Love, look out for more than just pure commercial success as their basis for picking the winner of each category. They simply seek excellence in all areas of the industry, that is why it makes the Online Bingo Operator Award such a close fought affair. All of the online bingo sites have gone out of their way to establish their brands as one of the leading online bingo sites in the UK today, whether that is Jackpotjoy Bingo which is the most visited UK online bingo site or Mecca Bingo with its very innovative TV adverts.

All I can say is that, IGA 2010 can’t come soon enough. We will be bringing you all the latest developments and winners early next year.
